Christmas Program Final Information

The Christmas Program is Friday December 22nd. Emails with lots of information has gone out, but here is all is in one post too.  CALL TIME FOR TONIGHTS CHRISTMAS PROGRAM IS: As long as everyone is there before the show starts, I’m good! We will start lining up the first few routines 15 minutes before the show starts.

THIS week is our Christmas parties and parent watch week!  (DEC 18-21) All dancers should wear whatever they are planning to wear for the Christmas Program to class (even if you are not participating in the show, you can still dress the part if you’d like). Parents, I’d love it if you could bring a treat or healthy treat to share with the class.  No pressure, we can do without as well.

THERE ARE NO REGULAR CLASSES DECEMBER 23RD THROUGH JANUARY 7TH.  The studio may be in use for competition team or other practices.

PROFESSIONAL VIDEO LINK DOWNLOAD OF THE PROGRAM.  (I DID NOT DO A GREAT JOB OF EXPLAINING THIS, PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS NOT A DEMAND FOR PAYMENT AND IF YOU CANNOT DO IT, I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND. I KNOW WHAT TIME OF YEAR IT IS AND THE DIFFICULTIES, AND I UNDERSTAND THAT I CANNOT (NOR WOULD I) FORCE ANYONE TO PAY IT- IF I DO NOT GET ENOUGH, I WILL JUST WRITE IT OFF AS AN ADVERTISING EXPENSE) THIS IS WHAT WAS SENT IN AN EMAIL. I have found a wonderful company available to video the program. Each family that is participating in the program has a $15 video charge added to their account.  Each family will receive a link to download the video.  The ONLY way to have this done is to charge every family the same amount.  If you do not want the video, please consider it a donation as I need to be able to pay the guy that has graciously agreed to come last minute.  If I like his video, then I will be using his for our recital as well.   Although the $15 has been added to you account, I would appreciate payment in cash, check, Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or cash app so I do not have to pay the credit card fees associated with all transactions.  If you would like a DVD of the program in addition to the digital link, they are for sale on the ticketing site starting today until the day of the show.  IF YOU ARE NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAM, YOUR FAMILY WAS NOT CHARGED FOR THE VIDEO.  IF YOU WOULD STILL LIKE A LINK, BE SURE TO LET ME KNOW AND I CAN STILL INCLUDE YOU.

IF YOU PURCHASE A DVD ($25) FROM THE TICKETING SITE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY THE $15 DOWNLOAD LINK FEE! IT WILL BE REMOVED FROM YOUR ACOUNT.

VENMO: @HEATHER-REED-180   PAYPAL: @HEATHERREED1129   CASHAPP: @$heatherreedqueenbee

Speaking of the ticketing site.  All tickets are sold out but I have a list going of people who would still like additional tickets.  If you find that a family member cannot attend, please let me know and I will forward your info along to the next person on the list.

WHEN ARRIVING FOR THE CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: Doors to the auditorium will open at 5:30.  Please do not arrive before 5:30 as we are having a private practice before setting up for the show. Please have dancers go directly to the band room (if your enter the auditorium entrance at the front of the school, go right, we will have signs pointing the way) to wait with their class for their time on stage.  The show is about 1.5 to 2 hours long and dancers should wait in the band room.  Any class that has PRE in it, can wait with parents and parents can pick them up immediately after their performance.  Others should hang out and party in the band room.  When I say party, I mean it.  It gets crazy and fun back there and some lifelong friendships are made.  My volunteers are awesome at engaging with kids and making everyone feel like superstars!  MY LINEUP VOLUNTEERS WILL ONLY LOOK FOR DANCERS IN THE BAND ROOM- WE WILL NOT LOOK FOR YOUR DANCER IN THE AUDITORIUM. PLEASE PLEASE HAVE THEM BACK THERE READY TO GO.

If your dancer has to change costumes, she/he is required to wear a nude colored leotard under the costumes.  This helps maintain modesty and dads are often ones that need to help dancer get ready. We also have boy dancers and I do not like having them separated from all the fun.  We do have screens to change behind and little changing booths for modesty as well.  NO ONE, no matter the age, should be naked in the band room.  ABSOLUTELY NO PICTURES IN THE BAND ROOM. Take pictures in the hallway please.  If you are going back and forth to help your dancer change, please do so between routines and do not enter or exit when dancers are on the stage.

Dancers will be dismissed from the stage.  At the end of the program, ALL dancers will go back onstage with a tea light candle to sing with the entire cast.  Parents and family will be able to pick up dancers right from the stage.  Littles will be partnered with a big kid who will stay with them until your dancer sees you.  IF THERE IS ANY KIND OF FAMILY DYNAMIC WHERE SOMEONE IS NOT ALLOWED TO PICK UP A DANCER, BE SURE TO NOTIFY ME ASAP SO I CAN ENSURE THIS SECURITY.  IF THERE IS ANY KIND OF FAMILY DRAMA, KINDLY LEAVE IT AT HOME.  THIS PROGRAM IS FOR THE KIDS to celebrate our Savior’s birth, AND ADULT PROBLEMS CAN WAIT.

Memory makers still has some spots available for pictures.  You can sign up for a spot with them as well. Memory makers picture time sign up

BE PREPARED:  during intermission, we will have cookies, and coco available for sale by the the yummy SanMiguel Sweet!  Bring cash for this yumminess!

Costumes: Costumes for each class should be what I’ve asked within reason. The goal is for you to not spend a ton of money. Use what you have or will use again please. I will not deny anyone from going on stage.

Christmas and Recital Information

Christmas and Recital Information

Year End Recital: Just Dance 2024.  This past week, I showed each class the costume that I picked out for them for the year end recital.

The recital is June 1, 2024  Dress Rehearsal is May 21, 2024 both at the SJHS Auditorium.  In order to participate, dancers are required to purchase the costume that I picked out for them.  Payment is due by Nov 9th, 2023.  It is a long and time consuming process to order costumes, it takes companies time to make them and we often could not get some costumes on time the past few seasons.  I’ve up’d the due date so we can get our order in sooner, therefore getting costumes in well before picture date.   PS: The picture date on the calendar was incorrect.  Pictures are March 16, 2024.

Sizes: I will measure all students this season during class time before Nov 9th.  If you pay for the costume, I will assume you want to order a costume.  If I don’t get the paper form back,  (I will hand out this week) I will use the measurements that I take to get the sizing.  If you have auto debit for tuition, please note that the system will NOT auto debit your costume fee.  You will need to log in an pay it manually, or, preferably, write a check or pay with cash.  The fees I pay to the credit card processing company in December are astronomical, in my opinion.

If your dancer does NOT want to participate in the recital or you have a conflict and cannot participate, kindly email me so that I am aware when doing choreography.  Your dancers will still learn everything, but will be on an end so it will not be a big deal when they are not there.

Christmas Program:  Also this past week, I discussed with each class what they will need for the Christmas program.  Please note that this should not be a replacement for the Year end Recital, it is an enhancement to this season.  We will not do a Christmas program every season.

The Christmas program is Friday December 22, 6:30pm at the SJHS Auditorium.  There is NO Dress Rehearsal.  The show will be about an hour and half long. This program is more casual than the recital, but we will still sell tickets for $6 each.  This will help cover the costs of producing such a show.  The link will be sent out Mid November.   We will also have a photographer there to offer Christmas pictures of your dancer, siblings, buddy shots, and families are welcome to join in. Order forms for those will go out mid November. All optional, of course.

Costumes for the Christmas show is whatever you come up with within the parameters I’ve set for each class (below).  My goal is for you to not spend a ton of money.  Use what you have, or go crazy with a costume you find online.  I will allow all dancers to perform on stage regardless of what they show up in.  We will have a mini-in class dress rehearsal at the studio the week before the show, which is also that last week of classes before the Holiday Break, and parent watch week.  To let me know that your dancer is available you can either 1) respond to this email and let me know YES or NO, or 2) sign into your parent portal account (where you pay) and under events, select the Christmas Program to sign up.

Do I have any singers that would like to sing in the program?  You must be able to work and prepare independently.  Message me with interest.

Christmas Santa Parade:  We also plan to participate in the SJ Downtown Santa Parade this season.  It is Friday December 1.  The parade goes from behind the courthouse, up mainstream and ends just past the third block of town.  We will have a trailer made into a float for the littles to sit on.  Older dancers can walk, tumble, or twirl behind or on the sides of the trailer.  To participate, dancers should be “glowed up”.  It’s a light parade, so all participants need to have something light up or glowing on.  Just log into the parent portal, under events, select the Santa parade and sign up.  We meet behind the courthouse at 6:00.  Parade starts at 6:30pm.

Halloween:  Reminder that there is NO dance class the night of Oct 31 for Halloween.

Thanksgiving:  Reminder that there is NO dance class the Wed, Thurs, Fri, or Sat of Thanksgiving.  November 22, 23, 24, 25 is Thanksgiving Break.

With this NEW Dance at Disney June 2024, you will register and pay for your trip via the travel agents link.  https://mytrip.wcv.com/booking/0T49NBKJN

ATTENTION! I have decided to change the dates for our Dance at Disney to June 28-July 2 2024. We will be working with Dance the World (World Class Vacations, puts on these parade and performance events- we did one in Dec of 2021 so it will be similar)

Along with the performance, park hopper, hotel costs, There is $425 per performer that will be due to the dance studio. Due dates and such are on the enclosed flyer.

Please note, that we will still start our group routine choreography in August of this year.  We will have classes each Wednesday in August from 6-8 (except 16th is rescheduled for the 17th) from 6:00-8:00.  We will do most of the stage routine choreography in August.  During the regular season, classes will be on Thursday night from 7:30-8:30.  No Disney classes in the month December 2023. We will receive parade choreography in January 2024 and we will begin working on that.  No Disney classes in the month of May 2024.

Note: We have LOTS more opportunities with this program.  There is a flyer from the travel agent with all the info.  But basically ages 7-9 will do the parade at Disney springs. (same choreography, shorter route) ages 10-22 will do the parade at Magic Kingdom, and ALL ages will do a stage performance in an air conditioned space at Epcot.  (I’m so excited about this part)

Our stage performance can be what I want it to be without Disney’s strictness in music, etc.  So, we are doing a villain or creepy jazz routine for our stage performance.  Think “Poor unfortunate souls” meets maleficent. ha!  The Costume choices, pictures on the flyer, are awesome and I am excited about them.  You will need to have black or tan jazz shoes depending on the costume choice. Included will be earrings and glitter lips too!

The parade costume will be shown at a later date and it includes the RUBY RED shoes!  Some of you are already familiar with those!

Other potential cost no included:

Travel to and from Disney.  I plan to get airfare for a group, but you are NOT required to travel with the team this time.

So, let’s do it!  Cancel everything you already knew about this trip, read everything, ask me questions to clarify, click the link to register and make your deposit!  Woot!
