Recital and Costumes
Parents, you should know if your student’s class performs in show A (11:00am) or show B (3:00pm) or Both on Saturday May 20, 2017. You should also know that dress rehearsal (required for ALL students) is Tuesday May 16, 2017. Approximate Call time for Dress Rehearsal is as follows: Ages 2-6 6:00, Ages 7-11 7:00, Ages 12 and up 8:00. All events are held at the St. Johns HS Auditorium. Seating and tickets will go on Sale after Spring Break: New this year: tickets will be reserved/assigned seating and will be purchased online through a link that will be provided in the April newsletter.
Recital Costumes have begun to arrive. I am handing out costumes to classes when I have all sizes for the students. Please remember that costumes are not to be worn or played in until the recital. However, I am scheduling the week of February 27-March 3 as a time for everyone to wear their costumes in class while working on routines. It is a fun way to break up the month, when students often get tired of working on routines. I recommend bringing them, then changing into them.
Pictures are Saturday March 11th at the dance studio. The time schedule for each class is attached and posted at the studio and on the website. We strive to be ON TIME so please be prepared for your picture time. It is not required to purchase pictures, but I still ask that you come get your picture taken with the group so that we can have a complete group shot. Order forms will be handed out in February.
It is recommended that students wear a nude color leotard under costumes to maintain modesty. Any student that CHANGES THEIR COSTUME backstage or in a dressing room IS REQUIRED to wear a nude color leotard under costumes to maintain modesty.
Monday Classes: Tights REQUIRED for all Monday classes (convertible for Adv class)
Tuesday Classes: Tights REQUIRED for Tumbling 4, Ballet/Tap 1, Elite Tumbling, Ballet 4 (convertible) and Jazz 4. Tights OPTIONAL for Tumbling/Hip Hop 1
Wednesday Classes: Tights REQUIRED for all Wednesday Classes. (convertible for Combo ¾)
Thursday Classes: Tights REQUIRED for Pre Combo, Tap 3, Ballet 3 (convertible). Tights OPTIONAL for Adv. Baton, Tumbling 3 and Hip Hop 3
Friday Classes: Tights REQUIRED for all Friday Classes

CELEBRATION OF DANCE: February 20-24 This week students are invited to BRING A FRIEND TO DANCE, bring a treat to share, have a pizza party after dance- anything to make it special. Many students are getting the “Winter blues” by this time, so we spend this week having fun, having contests, working of other stuff, showing off for friends, etc.
Missed Lessons: Please remember that if you miss a class due to scheduling conflict, sickness or bad weather, you may make it up in another level similar to your student’s class. Most classes are working hard on recital choreography so your student will be learning other routines than what their class would be doing. This can be encouraging AND FUN to some students and discouraging to others, speak to your student and the instructor if you feel there may be a problem. No need to let us know, just show up and tell the instructor that your student is making up a class and we will work it out. The absolute best time to come to a make up class is the Week of Celebration of Dance. February 20-24.
Also remember that just because school may be cancelled, dance may NOT be. Check the website, facebook and email before not coming to class. The studio always respects your decision to drive in or not.
